WoW Reputation Grinding Guide

Getting Mountain of Mounts in World of Warcraft with Reputation Grinding

The Mountains of Mounts achievement in World of Warcraft is almost entirely based on being able to max out a few key factions to Revered or Exalted. That can be a big chore for many players and will generally take a minimum of 3 months of play time. However, without careful analysis and planning, it can take far longer. So, follow these tips carefully to make the road to your new achievement as easy as possible.

Which Factions to Grind

There are a lot of factions that can reward you for your time when you need new mounts. The ones you need to reach exalted fastest are the Kirin Tor, Cenarion Expedition, Sons of Hodir, Netherwing, Sha’tari Skyguard, Mag’har or Kurenai, Wyrmrest Accord, your City Factions, and the Oracels in Sholazar Basin. These will all reward you with mounts you can buy or receive as rewards.

What Currency You’ll Need

Of course, just reaching Exalted isn’t enough for all of the factions. Some of them require that you grind your way to some serious currency as well. You’ll need at least 50,000 gold, over 500 Champion’s Seals, 300 Stone Keeper’s Shards, 200 Emblems of Triumph, and plenty of Halaa Research and battle Tokens in Nagrand.

Getting There Faster

Once you get all the stuff you need, the road to the mountain of mounts is a bit faster than you’d expect. It can take upwards of three or four months to get all that stuff to start with, but the remaining mounts are all based on simple achievements, gold swaps and auction house luck. Get your faction reputation maxed out as much as possible, and in no time you’ll be well on your way to the top level of the grind for your Mountain of Mounts.

The key to getting all 100 mounts for your achievement is not just in being rich or just in spending time online, it is in streamlining the time you spend online to most effectively focus on the specific gains you’ll get from each faction. If you know you need Revered for one and Exalted for another, focus on the Exalted one first – it’s going to take longer. Do that, and you’ll be well on your way to a huge stable of mounts.

Mastering Your Factions in World of Warcraft

Warcraft Reputations

World of Warcraft Reputations

The factions of World of Warcraft provide a number of different ways for you to enjoy the content at end-game while pushing through the necessary grind that is required in all MMOs. Some of the factions are easier than others, allowing you to simply wear a tabard or run daily quests, while others require you to grind on mobs or spend huge sums of gold in the auction house for items that can be turned in for additional reputation. Whichever factions you are currently working toward, here are some tips to help speed up the process and make your life a bit easier.

Create a Priority List

Step one is to create a list of priorities related to the factions you’ll be grinding on. There are a lot of options, so you’ll want to choose the ones that are most effectively going to reward you. For example, at level 71, your priority should be levelling up, which will get you plenty of reputation with lots of factions. However, at Level 80, you need to get Revered or Exalted with factions like Kirin Tor, Wyrmrest Accord and Argent Crusade. Prioritize to make your life easier.

Do the Dailies

Almost every faction has daily quests to help you get to Exalted. Because you can only do 25 of them and there are far more than 25 daily quests available in the game, you’ll want to choose the factions that are most in need of more reputation and focus on those first. Storm Peaks and the Sons of Hodir quests tend to top many people’s lists, followed by the Icecrown and Argent Tournament quests.

Rotate Your Tabards

Those tabards you have for Kirin Tor, Knights of the Ebon Blade, Argent Crusade, and Wyrmrest Accord are great for boosting your reputation in the different dungeons of Northrend, so make sure to rotate them every day to get that nice hefty boost. Also, do your daily dungeons for an even bigger boost.

Group Up

Groups can speed up faction grinding significantly. Just because you can run a Level 73 dungeon solo doesn’t mean you should try. Get some help and run it much faster with all those tabards in place.

The key to getting as much reputation as possible each day is to create a plan and follow it as religiously as possible. The more accurately you follow the plan you set for yourself, the more easily you’ll be able to ensure you get as much reputation as possible whenever you go grinding. Good luck in your grinding!

The Tabard Grinding Reps in WotLK

Warcraft Reputations

World of Warcraft Reputations

There are a lot of reputations in World of Warcraft. When you reach level 80 in Northrend, you’ll probably have reached at least Revered with a few of them, but then there are the four tabard grinding reps that will allow you to get more reputation by wearing the tabards of those four particular factions in the dungeons and heroic dungeons of the continent. Here is a breakdown of each and what you should be doing with each one to get to Exalted as fast as possible:

Kirin Tor – The Kirin Tor faction is Dalaran’s main faction and will reward you with a variety of discounts and extras in Dalaran itself – one of the coolest cities in the game. So, while getting the reputation is pretty straightforward, the rewards are fantastic, so there is no good reason to put it off any longer than necessary.

Knights of the Ebon Blade – The knights of the Ebon Blade are the Death Knights in Icecrown and, while you’ll be able to get a few good quests in the zone when you start there, most of your faction gain comes from tabard grinding. Watch out for ways to boost this reputation a bit when you hit the Argent Tournament as well though – as there are some good quests there with extra Knights of the Ebon Blade reputation.

Wyrmrest Accord – The Wyrmrest Accord in Dragonblight is a great faction for a number of reasons, mostly related to lore. You’ll want to grind this one early as well, and use the dailies that are available here as early as level 83 to get the reputation available to you. Ideally, this grind should be pretty quick.

Argent Crusade – The is the easiest of the four to level up these days due to the Argent Tournament. You’ll gain some reputation in Icrecrown when you first get there at Level 79, but then you can complete quests for the Argent Tournament, become a Champion, and run the Coliseum – all things that boost your overall reputation with this faction pretty quickly.

Once you’ve reached Exalted with all four of these tabard grinding factions, using both those tabards and the number of different quests and options available to you throughout Northrend, your reward options will open up and increase many times over. Make sure you’re prepared for whatever the game requires of you, because these factions make the whole grind well worth your while.

Three Reputations You Must Have at Level 80

Warcraft Reputations

Reputation grinding is a chore for a lot of players. When you hit level 80, the last thing you want to do is continue grinding further into the game. However, if you’re like a lot of players out there, you probably have a handful of factions you have yet to fully maximize – either because you’re out of time or because you don’t have the energy or patience to sit and grind for hours on end. Here are the three most commonly skipped Northrend Reputations that you should have maxed out at Level 80.

Argent Crusade

The Argent Crusade, while at first seemingly not that useful, turned out to be one of the more useful (and now easiest) factions to level up to Exalted in Northrend. The process starts with going through the initial phasing quests in Icecrown and then proceeds to the end-game content of the Argent Tournament during which you will need to complete quite a few quests to reach Champion status. Once you reach Exalted and are a champion, you can become a Crusader (assuming you have Valiant status with all of the other city factions). Then, it’s time to get some serious rewards.

Kirin Tor

Technically, Kirin Tor doesn’t do that much for you in terms of rewards. However, getting your Kirin Tor reputation up isn’t that hard – just use the tabard in the different dailies and dungeons in Northrend. Also, you get a nice discount on anything you buy in Dalaran with a maxed out Kirin Tor reputation – so it’s a good idea to get done as quickly as possible, especially if you buy a lot of stuff or camp on the rare spawns.

Sons of Hodir

The Sons of Hodir represent one of the more vital reputation grinds in the game when you hit level 80, for the enchantments you get and for the added boost of the plans and items you can buy at Exalted. It’s also a long grind, so it’s a good idea to get started as soon as possible so that you can reach Exalted quicker – you’ll be grinding in Storm Peaks a LOT to get there.

These are just three of a number of different factions in the game that can reward you with all sorts of stuff at Level 80. However, you stand to gain the most by grinding your way through all three of these potential gold mines. If you have not yet done so, make sure to invest a bit of additional time into the process going forward.
